RavCon 25 wrap-up: What we learned & #RavCon25 in numbers

Dedicated to trends, insights and real-life stories from fraud and payments, RavCon – Secure Growth Summit brought together professionals across fraud, risk, payments, data science and ecommerce looking to connect and discuss.

Organized by Ravelin, the fifth edition of RavCon was held on April 3, 2025 at London's Pan Pacific Hotel.

Thank you for joining us for one more year. We immensely enjoyed speaking to you, sharing and making memories.

The connecting thread: Data

The topics our 12 illustrious speakers delved into were diverse. #RavCon25 was a whirlwind of ideas, stories and discussions.

But we found one connecting thread: data. Breadth, wealth, quality and deep understanding of data.

  • From Tim Harford's unforgettable rules for thinking about data clearly (and how babies are actually made)...

  • ...to Lei Tang from Nando's, who explained how a dedicated fraud tool can help make the most of transaction data...

  • ...to the brilliant, passionate merchant panel and their message to contextualize everything, featuring La Redoute's Myriam Bourgeot, Puig's Daniella Lilliu Atance, Next's Nadeem Jassat APCIP, and our own Liana Gohery...

  • ...to Katrina Scott and Digant Tyagi linking criminology theory to data and maths, showing us some of the inner workings of fraud calculations and machine learning features...

  • ...to Mastercard's Julia Faesser, who stressed the need for insights in addition to data, generously sharing authentication metrics, advice for merchants, and legislation insights...

  • ...to Dr Alfred Tiley breaking down the data behind real-life refund requests and using it to make a business case...

  • ...and of course our illustrious CEO Martin Sweeney sharing a sneak preview of the findings of our upcoming Fraud Survey...

  • ...the sessions of this year's RavCon were about not just gathering data but processing it; combining it; comprehending it.

We left with new information, several takeaways and new ideas 💡

Thank you once again for joining us.
